Stacked Wedding Place Settings – How To Add The WOW Factor To Your Wedding Day Tables

As wedding venues become more flexible than ever, lots of them now with a decorate your own vibe there’s lots of different things to think about, and unless your fortunate enough to have a stylist, you don’t have the first clue of where to start, what’s important and what’s not. Today stylist Gemma Lander from the White Emporium talks to us about stacked wedding place settings and how to add that wow factor to you wedding day tables…

“When you and your guests walk into the room that’s hosting your wedding breakfast you want to go wow, and to be blown away. Creating an impact doesn’t always have to come from an expensive and extravagant purchase, it can be found in the smallest details.”

“As a stylist it is the smallest details I like to look at and make sure are on point. One thing every one of your guests will be faced with is their place setting, so looking at the details here can really add to the vibe and feel of your day. It can also be a cost effective way of adding a styling touch (possibly only paying for additional laying time) as you would normally be supplied with all the plates, napkins, cutlery and glassware needed by your caterers or venue and you are just asking them to have a different layout from the norm (unless you are hiring in additional cutlery and plates).”

“I love the move towards creating texture that is emerging within wedding and interior design. It’s about creating depth through layering and the mixing of different materials together. One way to do this is to look at stacked place settings, this is the art of layering plates, linen, cutlery and your stationary to create beautiful and impactful place settings, ones that will be instantly instagramable.”

“When looking at place settings firstly think about the food you will be having. If you are having large sharing boards or bbqs then the main dinner plate will be placed on the table. If your caterers are bringing out your food plated up then you may need to look to charger plates to add a wider base. Will you be having the standard 4 glasses, red wine, white wine, champagne flute and water or are you hoping to declutter and reduce the initial number of glasses. For your cutlery will you need options for all 3 courses or are you sticking with just a good old knife and fork?”

“To bring in texture think about how to display your napkin, will it be neatly folded and used to enhance your place name or will it be something more organic, if so then muslin fabric can be used both as a table runner and a napkin, think about layering the fabric between plates, or as a placemat.”

“The stationary design you use for the place setting becomes key when looking at your styling, individual menus with guests names ensure they don’t forget what they have ordered, whilst calligraphy tags attached to pretty herb sprigs can make a room smell amazing.”

“Introduce colour through, plates, napkins and glassware, my candle fetish is moving onto the love of a beautiful plate and there are now so many options available to hire. If you don’t want to splash out on a whole set then a key glass in a bold colour or a coloured napkin can really lift a place setting.”
