Our Story
Magpie Wedding began on Valentine’s Day 2010 in Harrogate as The Vintage Wedding Fair, the first wedding fair of its kind in the UK. Over eight years, we provided inspiration and wedding attire for hundreds of brides, featuring over 400 vintage gowns from the 1920s to the 1970s at every event. Alongside the perfect dress, our fairs showcased the best British creative and artisan exhibitors – from florists, photographers, and jewellery makers, to stylists, entertainers, and hair/makeup artists.
In 2017, we rebranded as Magpie Wedding, expanding to embrace all styles and designs while keeping our ethos that every couple should have a wedding that truly reflects them. Our work has been featured in Elle, The Guardian, Wedding Ideas Magazine, Daily Express, Channel 4, Hello Magazine, and more. In 2019, we embraced all things eco and launched The ECO Wedding Show, showing couples that their wedding doesn’t have to cost the earth.
The New Direction
We are now Low Later – and now we aren’t just about weddings. We now support midlife love, dating, and relationships. Our focus is on people over 45 – those starting over, dating again, or celebrating love later in life. We provide:
- Dating advice for midlife singles looking for meaningful connections.
- Relationship tips for couples navigating long-term love or blended families.
- Weddings and second weddings designed to reflect who you truly are, with inspiration that goes beyond the typical 25-year-old aesthetic.
- Lifestyle guidance including fashion, beauty, and menopause, because love and life are intertwined.
Meet our director and founder, Kate Beavis
Kate is a vintage wedding expert, writer, and speaker. She has contributed to The Huffington Post, Metro, Red, Marie Claire, Wedding Ideas, and more. Kate also runs The Indie Practice, helping creative, independent businesses get noticed through marketing, PR, social media, content creation, and email marketing.
In addition, Kate runs Fearless at 50, a platform dedicated to midlife women, pro-age business, and challenging ageism. Through Fearless at 50, she helps women over 45 reimagine their careers, business, and confidence, offering practical guidance, coaching, and content that empowers them to thrive in business and life without being limited by age stereotypes.
At Love Later, our mission is simple: to celebrate love at every age, support couples in making their wedding and relationships their own, and provide honest, stylish, and age-aware guidance for dating and relationships later in life.
