Goblin Kings and Goth undertones was the inspiration for todays shoot, however this luxury Labyrinth Halloween wedding inspiration is anything but scary ghosts and ghouls- with it’s dark and dreamy Autumnal vibes, it’s attention to detail, beautiful tablescapes and epic navy wedding cake it’s got lots of inspiration for a dreamy Halloween wedding. Here we catch up with shoot coordinator and florist Fran from Frenchie Loves Flowers who tells us how the Halloween wedding was created…
“Growing up my favourite film to watch on a rainy Saturday was the Labyrinth starring David Bowie. I loved everything about it from the 80’s music to the flamboyant costumes and poetic script.”
“After collaborating on a few shoots organised by other suppliers, I had a strong urge to organise my own, and my first thought was to take something I really loved and make it into a wedding friendly styled shoot.”
“I really wanted to show my ideal client how you can take a concept like a favourite film and be inspired to stylise it into your wedding but still keep it classic and modern.”
“When researching the film looking for floral inspiration, I knew I needed to incorporate the ‘poisonous peach’ so this was the main feature of the bridal bouquet. I ran this colour throughout the rest of the florals and incorporated some flaming red, hanging amaranthus as a nod to the crazy ‘fireys’ in the film.”
“I also wanted a dramatic feature so created a pampas grass hoop, the hairy grass representing ‘ludo’”

“After working with Kieran in a few shoots before I knew his moody/outdoorsy photography style would be perfect so the next hurdle was to find a venue. Bolton Castle was perfect. It was old, magical and more importantly it had a maze. Not only that they have a ring bearer owl. How perfect is that?”
Bridal- Klue Doll
“Kelly from Klue doll created a stunning gown, very much inspired by the medieval dress Sarah wears at the start of the film. Nicola styled the brides hair into a bouffant, inspired by the masquerade scene, and I decided, rather to style the groom in similar clothes worn by ‘the goblin king’, to incorporate a tuxedo, inspired by masquerade, keeping it classic and current.”
Cake – Debbie Gillespie Cake Design
“I was conscious throughout the planning to not turn this into a fancy dress, ‘themed’ idea, so I asked Debbie to create something that would fit the theme, but would wouldn’t look out of place at a conventional wedding. Debbie took the Navy and gold, geometric, maze design from the stationary by Lorna Boyer designs and created a spectacular Navy cake, with floral feature for that touch of femininity.”
