I launched Very Vanilla with a passion for creating considered, design-led cakes and intricate patisserie-filled dessert tables, for couples who would like something a little different to the traditional wedding cake – creating designs that are inspired by their sense of style, taste and their own amazing wedding vision.
I specialise in working with buttercream and ganache and am truly excited by the different textures, flavours, colours and styles you can create using these cake-decorating mediums. I also love to explore the use of different height tiers and multiple wedding cake displays to add extra detail and interest. Ultimately, I love working with my couples to create designs that will highlight the care and creativity that they have put into their wedding day.

There's so much inspiration out there, thanks to the amazing social media platforms we have available, but I appreciate this can get overwhelming! Spend some time together thinking about the overall style you'd like to create for your wedding day - taking inspiration from your venue and how you want the day to feel for you and your guests - and start building ideas from there. And also, don't be worried if your ideas change along the way - it's all part of the process! Embrace it as it'll help you move towards your overall wedding vision.

I’m Alison and I’m an eco-conscious wedding cake designer making truly unforgettable wedding cakes. Little Chelly Cakes is run from my farmhouse kitchen in the village of Chelmorton (Chelly for short!) in the Peak District.
