Some modern vintage wedding inspiration for you today, dark and dreamy with beautiful photography and florals. Set at The Highfield House an exclusive private country escape in East Yorkshire it has a contrast of cool, chic and pretty elements providing a mixture of inspiration for your wedding day. Shoot coordinator and florist, Vicki Johnston Flowers and the rest of the team behind the shoot tell us all about how this modern vintage wedding was created…
“After exhibiting at Dunedin Country House I wanted to capture the beauty of the designs i had created.. and instantly knew where ….Highfield House without a doubt with its vibrant and charming character. Having worked with Aaron, Beyond the Frame, throughout the past 6 years I knew it was his style and amazing creative skill I needed to add to the mix! Along with the stunning gowns Michelle at Bridal reloved Beverley brought along…I knew we were going to create something special!!”
“The final piece, a decision I had made long before the shoot was an option, were the models… Tiar ..a striking, petite, dark haired beauty, her body covered in art was my inspiration for the whole thing… my daughter!! Like Highfield… shes edgy but classy and not afraid of making a statement.”
“Neive… dainty, adorable blonde… a total contrast.. delicate, sweet and innocent. Both models applied their own makeup.”

“With the flowers.. I wanted to create a romantic natural feel with muted colours , blousy hydrangea and peony and lots of textured foliage. I feel this season is all about big statement bouquets with flowing lines and pops of colour. I also created a few neat designs with pods and poppy heads, roses and scented eucalyptus.. so whilst enjoying the beauty of the flowers we could still feast our eyes on the elegance of the gowns. Fresh flower crowns and head wear were a last minute add… so glad I did!! They looked amazing!!”
“The whole day was so relaxed and fun…can’t wait to work with this fabulous creative team again soon!”[line]

“The location and ideas for the flowers were right up my street. We worked together to use the Gatsby Esque surroundings of the Highfield House as the basis for the shoot.”
“There were key areas of the house and pieces of furniture I really wanted to use heavily and focus on. The staircase with original wood panelling being one of them. Multiple velvet pieces of furniture such as the Chaise Lounge provided me with inspiration along with the dresses as to how I would pose the beautiful models. I wanted the dresses flowing like liquid off the models to really highlight their petite stature and bring out the 40’s feel from the furniture.”
“The key aesthetics for the posing of the models were laid back and relaxed with a hint on non-chelonce. The whole feel really came through and I think it really speaks to the time and era of the setting.”

“I had been looking to work on something at this particular venue, and with Aaron’s style of photography and Vicki’s style brief I knew it would be a great photo shoot to work on and showcase our dresses from Bridal Reloved Beverley.”
“My influences for my dress choices came from the models and the venue itself, Highfield House has an amazing sense of luxury and grandeur about it from the bold colours against the wood paneled staircase to the opulent parlour room with statement pieces of furniture and chandeliers.”
“When it came to the models Tiar and Neave I loved that they where a complete contrast to each other, so I was able to show case some bold and sassy alternative looks with dresses from Enzoani, White Rose and Ronald Joyce with Tiar in Satin and chiffon fabrics but then create a softer more gentle and traditional look with Neave using dresses by Sassi Holford Vera Wang and Diane Harbridge in silk and organza.”
“The accessories for the shoot where from Bridal Reloved Beverley and Amore Headwear, accessories can be one of the key ways to create your wedding look whether it’s a statement veil or a bespoke headpiece and can completely transform the dress and style/theme of your wedding day.”
Bride-to-be top tip…
“When trying on dresses try on all styles, you never know the wild card dress could just be “ The One”
