Recently we were invited to stay at the truly stunning De Vere Latimer Estate in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. It was so nice to get out and see venues again, and this one didn’t disappoint. The setting, the views, and hotel itself make a beautiful wedding venue. Here we share our experience of staying at this wedding venue.
Wedding Venue: De Vere Latimer Estate
The venue is full of history yet has a modern updated finish. It is a red brick Tudor-style mansion designed by Edward Blore and built in 1838. In the Second World War it was the IV Corps in August 1940, a secret intelligence site that the government didn’t know about. Here they listened into enemy conversations and worked alongside the teams at Bletchley House. If you love your history, you will love the building (it has prison cells in the basement apparently – obviously not used today!)
The details in the lobby and hallways are breathtaking – perfect spots for your wedding photos. The staircase has a giant stained glass window at the top; a beautiful feature for your couple pics. The mix of history and tradition yet updated with modern touches makes this an ideal wedding venue.
The grounds are seriously impressive. From the wedding rooms to the outdoor space, the views are wonderful.

The Ceremony
The Cavendish suite and Cheyne Suite are licensed for civil ceremonies. For church ceremonies, St Mary Magdalene Church is situated on the grounds of the estate.
The Wedding Rooms
The Cavendish: Seamlessly blending contemporary style with Victorian architecture, our Cavendish Suite can be easily divided into two rooms, creating space and flexibility. With its own private terrace and views across the Chess Valley, this suite is fully licensed for civil ceremonies, providing the setting for both your wedding ceremony and breakfast. It has a 180 guest capacity.
The Bedrooms
They have 10 Deluxe Mansion House bedrooms that are close to the Cavendish Suite. These are used for the wedding party. Then there is another 205 Deluxe and Superior bedrooms available in the Mansion House and can be booked at a discounted rate.
The Food and Drink
Latimer Estate can accommodate external caterers along with in-house catering where couples can choose, canapes, a wonderful three-course menu and a range of evening food options.
