Your wedding photographer will capture the big moments, but what about the photos of the dance-off, the slightly blurry/retro ones taken after a few too many drinks, the funny, slightly embarrassing moments between friends and family? Not to mention all the things you never even knew were happening! Founded by Jake Schmidt, Wedding Snap gives guests a simple way to share their photos, videos and voice messages with the couple using a QR code, with no app or login needed. Everything comes together in one shared gallery, giving couples a collection of moments and memories from their loved ones’ perspective.
It’s a simple idea that lets couples capture the whole day as it really happened, rather than relying solely on the official photographs. We chat to Jake about how WeddingSnap works, why it’s particularly popular with couples in their 40s and 50s, and how they’re helping couples capture ALL the moments of their special day…

Who is your typical couple?
“Our typical couple is in their late 40s to mid-50s and planning a wedding that puts their guests first. They care more about capturing real, candid moments than having only posed photos, and they know their photographer can’t be everywhere at once.”

What influences you?
“My biggest influence is when I get to go to a wedding and experience the moments at the actual wedding. People are dressed up, holding a drink, and enjoying the day and company, so I design for zero friction and something that naturally blends in: scan a QR code, and you’re sharing within seconds. I also take a lot from consumer apps that feel effortless, and from the wedding world itself. I want the look to feel warm and timeless, like a wedding album, not like a tech product. And I pay close attention to feedback from couples and vendors, since the best ideas usually come from watching how people use it on the day.”

How important is being sustainable?
“Sustainability matters to us, and it’s built into the product. WeddingSnap replaces disposable cameras, which usually get used once and thrown away, with a QR code guests scan on the phones they already have. Couples still get every photo and video, with no plastic, film, or chemical processing involved.”

What are you most proud of so far?
“We’re most proud of being part of thousands of wedding days. Knowing that couples will look back on moments they’d never have seen without WeddingSnap is what makes the work worth it for us.”
What’s next for you and your company?
“Next, we’re focused on growing with wedding vendors, so more photographers, DJs, planners, and venues can offer WeddingSnap to their couples. We’re also building a mobile app and adding features that help couples and guests enjoy their memories after the wedding, like better ways to relive and share the gallery. Our goal is for WeddingSnap to be something every couple expects at their wedding, like a guestbook.”
