If you’re currently planning your winter wedding nuptials for next year then this Scandi winter wedding at Rapid City South Dakota, USA is full of dreamy neutral tones, Christmas vibes and a little bit of glitz and glam. It’s the perfect mix, nails the Scandi winter wedding look perfectly and it’s full of beautiful details for your big day. Stylist Justin Straw of Justin Straw Designs created the inspiration and it was beautifully photographed by Sandra Nichols of IndigoBlue Photography. We hear a bit more about this stunning festive inspiration…
“Traditional Christmas has warm and earthy tones however I wanted to flip this on its head a little and opt for a more neutral colour palette. I loved all the dried grasses and thought it would be fun to mix this aesthetic with all the glitz and glam of the holidays. Using these natural tones for your own wedding day is perfectly simple as you don’t have to worry about clashing colours. Keep the tones neutral and mix them with the holiday elements that we know and love and you can’t go wrong! Adding beautiful textures and textiles will add drama too!
“As the weather was not on our side on shoot day we pivoted and moved inside to a beautifully clean and white room. Just like on a real wedding day sometimes you have to make adjustments for the elements. The venue was just as perfect inside and we managed to get some stunning outdoor shots too. Remember whatever the weather on your wedding day it can work in your favour for your photography and you must prepare for the weather at your winter destination wedding. Make sure you have everything you need to stay warm. Pick a beautiful jacket or wrap that will add to your wedding story.”
“For the dress, we wanted one that had a beautiful traditional look. The beading and sparkle were the perfect addition to this holiday wedding. We went for a full glam look with neutral elements to counteract this for the hair and makeup. The makeup gave a soft feeling but with the drama of amazing lashes. The hair was kept soft and flowing with a loose updo and loose tendrils framing her face. I wanted to keep it light and neutral for the flowers with a lot of amazing textures. We used a lot of dried goods mixed with fresh and painted florals to achieve the look, and we wanted some floral drama for the cake too. This was kept simple and chic with a bold statement at the base.”
