Inspiration

This winter editorial shoot was created to inspire couples who are wanting to have a winter wedding but also want to add a bit of Christmas joy into their day. The shoot was photographed during December and there were still so many autumnal colours around in the trees so together with these wonderful suppliers we created a warm, cosy winter wedding adorned with a Christmas tree to give it that extra festive feel.

Styling

“This shoot was all about embracing the festive season and what makes it so special! We wanted to inspire couples who want a winter wedding and who love Christmas to create their perfect Christmassy wedding. Located in a beautifully light space amongst landscaped gardens, StarChar created a cosy and romantic environment by using warm tones and complementary touches. The table setting was kept effortlessly elegant. Colours were matched to the gorgeous floral arrangements that were adorned with texture to create consistency. An ivory chiffon drape was used across the pine table to give emphasis to the warmth of the caramel napkins, whilst bud vases provided a contemporary finish. Gold accents and small details such as maple leaf napkin rings and scattered pine cones brought everything together for a romantic Christmas feel. The table styling flowed throughout the space with rustic logs and candles in hurricane lamps, surrounded by frosted pinecones to provide a soft and cosy glow backed by a delicately finished Christmas tree.”

Photography

“When choosing a photographer for your wedding day it’s vital you find someone that is on your wavelength. Your photographer is going to be with you all day and you need to make sure that you’re going to have a great time together. If you’re outgoing then choose a photographer who’s just as outgoing as you or maybe you’re not so comfortable being in front of the camera then choose a photographer who is going to make you feel confident and comfortable having your photo taken. Make sure you love the way the photographer edits an image and the way they capture an image too. Your photographs will be with you forever so make sure you love everything about your photographer!”

The Dress

“The dress for this shoot was chosen as it had a beautiful elegance and really complimented the rustic and natural look of the venue. The leaf design that the dress had looked beautiful and it matched perfectly with Rebecca’s veil design. Rebecca always likes to design pieces that complement a bride’s outfit. The dress seemed the perfect opportunity to showcase the embroidered leaves off the Ruscas design. When choosing a dress it’s super important to choose one that makes you feel incredible! Try different styles, looks and fits even if you don’t think a dress will suit you. You will be surprised at how many brides choose a dress that is completely different to what they had imagined in their head.”

Flowers

Copper and Moss Botanics says; “Every florist has an individual style in how they create their florals and finding the best fit of a florist for your day is so important. Allowing your florist to work to a colour palette using the current season’s blooms allows for often, in my opinion, the dreamiest of florals. At certain times throughout the year, particular blooms can become hard to purchase and so by using seasonal blooms you will have the best of the season, often more wild and romantic and in more recent days, seasonal blooms are much more likely to be available from British flower farmers. For me, Copper and Moss’ style of floristry is wild, natural and romantic, I love to draw inspiration from the seasons around us and with this shoot, in early December we were spoilt with so many different, beautiful elements to help influence the designs for the wedding florals. From the beautiful Autumnal leaves to the icy mornings to the dried heads of flowers left to naturally brown this time of year, these were all elements I was drawn to, to help select the individual blooms for the designs.”

Hair and Makeup

Michelle Morris says; “The makeup look that I created on Alyssa was soft and natural but with a hint of glam to add to the Christmas theme. I used a lightweight foundation by NARS to make Alyssa’s already amazing skin, look flawless and add a dewy glow. I focused on the eyes to give the look a little more of a Christmassy feel, adding a touch of sparkle using a MAC glitter pot and individual lashes to complete the look. I created two looks with Alyssa’s hair, keeping it down and adding a soft wave to start with and then putting it up into a loose textured bun finished perfectly with the beautiful pins made by The Lucky6pence.”

Stationery

“You are my sun, my moon, and all of my stars’ This celestial-themed wedding stationery collection is the perfect suite for a winter wedding. Inspired by an evening under the stars, the gold foil embossed moon and stars design glistens like the night sky. The collection is printed on handmade cotton paper for a rustic and organic touch.”

Accessories

Janie at The Lucky Sixpence says; “For this shoot, I wanted to create accessories and jewellery that captured the twinkling of the lights and generate a warm glow for the winter theme so used lots of diamantés, cut glass and gold tones. These tones tied into the colour scheme perfectly. A simple elegant drop necklace complimented the deep V neck/back line of the dress, and a modern slider bracelet and coordinating earring completed the set. The gold tone diamante star pins gave a nod to the Christmas theme but also worked with the celestial touches in the stationery. Clustered together the pins gave an effortless but striking look in the updo.”
