Classic City Wedding With Custom Made Dress At The Lanesborough Hotel London

Set at The Lanesborough Hotel London, they kept it chic and simple with their colour scheme, traditional with their wedding attire and timeless with their music choices… and it was perfect for the two of them! We catch up with the couple themselves to find out all about their love story from the Valentine’s Day proposal to their special first dance…

 

 

Karetha and David’s Love Story

“We met via an online dating site in 2015 and had our first date near St Pancras over cocktails! We got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2021 at home in Islington. After putting our three-year-old to bed, I came downstairs believing it was going to be a quiet evening in, watching a movie and enjoying a glass of wine. To my surprise, I came downstairs to find my husband to be, on one knee with a ring in hand and a single stemmed rose between his teeth. It was perfect. We got married on Saturday 18th June 2022. We knew we wanted a summer wedding and June seemed like the perfect month to ensure all of our loved ones could be there for our special day.”

 

 

 

The Venue

“We first visited The Lanesborough in the autumn of 2021 with my mother for lunch. I was left at the table for a short while and I remember looking up at the beautiful ceiling of Celeste and thinking to myself this would be the perfect venue to get married in. Once David proposed we instantly knew we wanted to have our ceremony and reception at The Lanesborough Hotel.”

 

The Details

“We wanted a theme in keeping with The Lanesborough and also our personal style. We went for classical and timeless. The images captured our theme perfectly. Our colour scheme was kept simple with hues of ivory, nude and blush. Our main florals for the day were different varieties of roses, which matched our colour scheme. We wanted to ensure depth so we opted for light and dark blooms of various heights.”

 

“Our cake was amazing! We sampled some flavours from Erzulie and met with Nina the founder over Zoom 11 months before our wedding day to talk about the type of cake and style that we wanted. We opted for three different flavours for each of the tiers and tied in the decoration of the cake in with our wedding colour scheme.”

 

 

“For the ceremony and wedding breakfast, we chose to have a harpist playing which really helped to set the tone and feel for the beginning of the day. For our wedding reception, we chose the band The White Keys. Along with a DJ live set, The White Keys really helped to get the party started. We chose to have our first dance (and second) sung live by the band vocalists which was a lovely touch.”

 

The Dress and Suit

I wanted a dress that was timeless and modern. After visiting a few boutiques I decided to have my dress custom made by Caroline Castigliano. The team at Caroline’s boutique understood my brief perfectly and I was blown away by what they designed. For David’s suit, he chose a white tails suit from French Connection, which was timeless and classical.

 

Advice For couples

“Ensure that you meet with your vendors before working with them as getting that connection with them is key to ensuring you are all singing from the same hymn sheet, in terms of your vision for your day. Each wedding is personal to the bride and groom. We would recommend setting some non-negotiables and compromising on other aspects to protect them.”

 

“The photographer and videographer are definitely something you shouldn’t cut back on for your wedding day, as those moments captured you’ll treasure forever. Also, a live band. While a DJ is great a live band really helps to get the party started, especially if you have some shy guests. I would recommend limiting the travel so the ceremony and reception are at the same venue. Also, great food, wine and a great band.”
