Tropical wedding inspiration on the blog today set at The Winding House Weddings and with a team of creative suppliers you’re in for a treat. From vintage parasols, modern neon elements and eclectic, tropical styling it ticks all the boxes for a modern, unique and uber cool stylish wedding. Here we catch up with shoot coordinator Claire of Claire Hartley Stylist who tells us all from concept to creation…
“The inspiration is a mix of eclectic, edgy tropical inspired festival wedding. Marrying styles old and new, kitsch and classy, antique and contemporary, serious and playful. A tropical theme unifying a mix of styles.”
“So, I wanted to take your readers on an epic, fun journey deep into the colourful tropics, to inspire a quirky, relaxed tropical festival vibe. I was keen to keep the styling edgy and so played with my eclectic vision, contrasting styles, colours, textures and patterns.”

[line]“My Pinterest board was filled with pictures of palm leaves, bright tropical florals and Hawaiian inspirations. There were pictures of tropical inspired eclectic lounges incorporating colourful prints and playful styling.”
“Nestled down a rural country lane surrounded by stunning British countryside, The Winding House was the perfect venue. A former Victorian coal mining building which has been beautifully restored to provide a contemporary and modern space, it was the perfect mix of old and new and a beautiful blank canvas to paint my tropical picture.”
“I had the idea of using vintage parasols for the ceremony backdrop a while before the shoot and had managed to get together a decent collection of various sizes, shapes, colours and patterns. It was easy to create this quirky archway working with Coastal Wedding Event Hire where you can create a bespoke backdrop from their variety of backdrop structures to hire. This created a fun, colourful ceremony background to pop against the expanse of white walls inside The Winding House.”
“The on trend neon fitted in perfectly with the theme and Coastal Wedding Event Hire’s “Prosecco” grass wall ticked all the boxes. Katy went all out providing a “Pimp Your Bubbles” bar with all the extras inclusive of tropical fruits and bamboo straws.”
“In keeping with the relaxed, festival vibe Grazing Social created a delicious grazing runner for our table using fresh, locally sourced produce. Seasonal fruits, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, olives, nuts, dried fruits, crackers, fresh homemade bread, dips, chutneys and sweet treats all placed around brass candlesticks and quirky, tropical inspired table decorations. A mix of bright colours and splashes of gold flow throughout the styling. Champagne leaf charger plates, brass candlesticks and gold pineapple place card holders provided by Boho and Bloom Prop Hire with contrasting dark green table linen creates an eye catching luxury feel for this fabulous feast.”
“All signs used were handwritten and beautifully illustrated by Boards By Jess. We had a chalkboard to welcome guests featuring a decorative tropical border and modern calligraphy, place name cards for our grazing table and a perspex sign and menu for our “Pimp your Bubbles” bar.”
“I was keen to source suppliers for the eco-conscious bride and groom.”
“The beautiful stationery from Polkadot Daisy has bright hand-painted watercolour tropical flowers and palm leaves complimented by bold, modern typography. Printed with a blush background on recycled, textured card these invites will get your guests buzzing about your tropical theme in an environmentally friendly way.”
“Each table setting had favours by Seedball. Seedballs matchbox favours are made from 100% recycled cardboard and are personalised with a gorgeous design to suit your wedding theme. Inside your guests will find 6 seedballs to grow beautiful wildflowers in their gardens providing important habitat and food for an abundance of garden wildlife.”
“Our Glitter Bar provided by Eco Glitter Fun is a must for any eco-conscious, glitter loving festival bride. All glitter is biodegradable and sold in plastic free packaging so you can splash guilt free sparkles throughout your big day.”
“All flowers used were dried for an eco-conscious twist to the tropical theme. Bohotanical created a statement bouquet and flower crown for the bride with inspirations from tropical botanics and Hawaiian flowers. Dried palm leaves, pampas grass with splashes of vibrant pink and gold poppy seed heads all were incorporated within the styling of the venue. And who could miss the amazing artificial banana plants provided by Boho & Bloom Prop Hire, these were following the models around all afternoon!”
“Peacock chairs, again from Boho and Bloom Prop Hire and a tropical inspired lounge from Visual Roars created a trendy, vibrant setting. Contrasting colours, floral patterns and textures all in keeping with the tropical theme. A flamingo lamp and vintage sofa playing with the eclectic brief, kitsch yet classy. The neon “Prosecco” wall and Mr & Mrs signs provided by Coastal Event Hire create a fun, modern retro feel complimented by the beautifully restored VW camper van from Retro Rides 4 Brides.”
“The bridal look with hair by myself, Claire Hartley Stylist, and makeup by Sharon Owens was kept relaxed yet edgy with a soft, textured up style incorporating a pulled out fishtail plait and that bold pop of pink lipstick. This look complimented Rembo Styling’s Honey Bear dress from The Bridal Boutique of Joules. The dress combines a contemporary lace with a classic soft A-line skirt creating a relaxed boho, festival feel.”
“The grooms striking blue, three piece wool suit sourced from Vintage Suit Hire steps out of the traditional and into the alternative giving a more colourful, fun style with its contrasting brown buttons. The tropical floral print tie and gold pineapple pin complete the look.”
“The bride and grooms orange garnet wedding bands were beautifully designed and crafted by Lawley Designs. Andy wanted to create something quirky and original using these vibrant and flamboyant gemstones. I love the idea of having one of a kind rings designed just for you!”
“Cobi and Coco Cakes absolutely nailed the brief with her masterpiece of a cake. Incorporating tropical palm patterns, fresh and dried flower inspirations and her use of gold leaf. This is a statement cake for that WOW factor.”
“All of this was captured by the amazing talents of our videographer RKN Ariel Imagery and photographer Olegs Samsonovs together with his wife Rita who make the perfect team to produce amazing photos. Together they have surpassed all of my expectations and brought this vision to life.
