Luxury Seaside Inspired Wedding Inspiration at The Gaiety Bar, Southsea

Some boho luxe inspiration on today’s agenda with a seaside styled wedding at The Gaiety Bar,  Southsea, featuring a team of talented creatives that came together to produce photographer Crissi’s of Captured by Crissi beach vision. Who says you can’t have a beach vibe wedding in the UK! We catch up with her and the team to find out all about this shoot at The Gaiety Bar…

“I was inspired for this shoot after a day trip to the beach with my daughters. The beach is one of my favourite places to be. There is something so relaxing and grounding about the place. We spent a lot of time looking for shells and special stones and I was reminded how beautiful natural colours are. I wanted to create a luxurious boho wedding that channeled the beauty of the seaside. As such, we opted for a natural colour scheme, and a beautiful selection of dried flowers. I chose a beautiful, floaty grey dress and kept the grooms attire simple, rather than a full suit, to reflect the relaxed nature of the beach. The Gaiety Bar was the perfect venue choice, being set on the pier and boasting large windows, it provides an almost panoramic view of the surrounding sea.”

 

Styling –Love By Design Weddings

“The décor was inspired by a modern, sophisticated and neutral colour palette with a luxurious boho vibe. I wanted to create a look that is easily accessible to other couples and supplied all the décor from my stock. I kept the wooden table bare and draped it in an overflowing ivory chiffon table runner topped with a soft sand cheesecloth fabric for a chic, luxurious boho effect. A combination of gold toned and clear candlesticks with taupe and pale pink tapered candles decorated the table, along with a selection of gold and clear glass bottles of dried flowers, rose gold tea light holders and taupe pillar candles. The décor continued onto the floor, where gold glass lanterns filled with pampas sat on the fabric.”

 

 

“Glamorous gold accents are the key to a boho luxe weddings, so gold edged charger plates and glasses were teamed with gold cutlery. The table set up was completed with gorgeous pale pink plates and white napkins. A bohemian influenced backdrop was created using a gold frame draped in ivory chiffon. A natural toned rug, wooden crates draped in soft sand cheesecloth, gold lanterns, gold geometric tea light holders and gold candlesticks with the same taupe and pink candles from the table created a harmony of neutral colours.”

 

Cake – The Dotti Cake Company

“I wanted to pick up the boho glam theme and decided that a buttercream finish is less formal than fondant, although I lightened it a little and kept the finish quite free. As the venue was by the sea, I incorporated some aspects of the sea – shells, fish tails but also brought some glam using random gold leaf. The latest trends in all thing’s ‘cake’ includes the use of dried flowers which is a look I particularly like. I used muted colours on the outside of a central arrangement and concentrated colours, to compliment the overall colour palette in a central cluster. The flavours of the cake were white chocolate & raspberry, lemon and elderflower, banana and salted caramel. Where possible the ingredients are vegetarian, organic and/or fair trade.”

 

Flowers – Fig and Bramble

” I instantly thought of dried flowers for this shoot. I really wanted to showcase how versatile and beautiful they can be. I mainly used naturally dried, undyed flowers to give lovely soft tones with plenty of texture and movement. Mixed with some dyed pale pinks for a subtle addition of colour and rose gold for a touch of glamour. My aim was to create a softer, more elegant look suitable for a romantic wedding whilst keeping an earthy boho feel. The tricky thing about working with dried flowers is they can appear static compared to fresh flowers which have movement. My advice for this is make sure you mix up the textures to keep your flowers interesting. Dried flowers are a great idea for weddings because arrangements can easily be reused throughout the day and have the added bonus of being everlasting which is what makes them so special because you can keep them as a beautiful reminder of your day. It looks like dried flowers are here to stay and I’m loving it.”

“The Gaiety Bar on South Parade Pier has a very colourful and eventful history: it has been destroyed by fire 3 times but remains a historic landmark and as an entertainment venue many famous names have performed here. After years of neglect, this much-loved Victorian structure has been restored once more, whether you are looking for a seaside inspired wedding with fish and chips or you are looking for something completely extravagant, it’s a versatile venue for your wedding day”

“The soft, boho feel and colour palette for this shoot was right up my street. I always create a new suite for each shoot to tie in closely with the mood board and went for soft printed and cut arches alongside a really delicate hand torn edge, with printed shell details on a gorgeous textured card stock.”

 

Wedding Planner – SK Weddings and Celebrations

“I’m always looking for new and innovative ideas as I believe no two parties or weddings should be the same. When Crissi came into the venue I work with to discuss her shoot I knew this would be fun! Crissi asked me to work on 2 mood boards for her and her team. I worked through the suppliers that she had found and helped finalise the supplier list. We found the dream team, and all had so much fun on the day bringing the mood board to life!”
