As the nights draw in and the weather turns we turn our thoughts to all those winter nuptials which will be taking place over the season, and this rustic winter wedding has lots of inspiration to feast your eyes on for your big day! Set in a Tipi at Blakemere Village it’s full of rustic luxe styling, romantic bridal gowns and feather capes. Here we catch up with shoot coordinator Roanna Williams of Tipi Unique who tells us all about how this rustic winter wedding was created…
“Our main aim was to provide couples with something completely and utterly unique! We selected a wintry rustic-luxe theme, and wanted to tap into the dream of a fantasy wedding – without taking it too literally. It captures the creativity, pure enjoyment, and romance that we aim to deliver in each and every one of our tipi weddings/events. We were heavily intrigued by the magic and mystery of the winter months.”

[line]‘Our beautiful models (Grace & Nicol), took on an ethereal and regal role so to further dramatise the shoot. The majority of tipi shoots are extremely boho and beachy, so we were inspired to break the mould and offer a creative to suit alternative tastes. We wanted to prove that winter weddings are just as breath-taking as all of those summer ones!”
“We have a passion for working as a team, and love to support small/local businesses. Our team included a talented collective of people, all of which were able to execute our vision perfectly. We wanted the shoot to be attainable in real life, and to offer inspiration for all tastes and budgets. When planning your own special day always remember that your personality can be intertwined into every little detail. Selecting the right suppliers will give you the ultimate force to push your boundaries, and curate a day that is entirely bespoke, and entirely yours.”
“The woodlands of Blakemere Village provided the perfect backdrop for capturing an enchanting and mysterious mood. As soon as we visited to scope out shoot locations, we were instantly mesmerised by the winding footpaths, fairy-tale clearings, and low-twisting trees. It’s a real hidden gem, and looks stunning when styled with festoon lighting, hanging lanterns, and our bespoke rustic furnishings. We wanted to create a free-spirited and whimsical atmosphere – a “princess bride running through an enchanted woods” feel. Think Narnia vibes, with a tasteful festive twist! We then took the shoot inside our tipis to show a contrast, and to paint a story of a wedding reception. The shots portray the feel-good ambience inside our magnificent tipis, and show that couples can have a rustic-luxe wedding without a massive price tag!”
Styling- Tipi Unique
“We used our ‘Uniquely Styled’ range of furnishings to style each shoot location. In the woodlands we had an eclectic mix of sumptuous chesterfield sofas, glittering disco balls, rustic tables, and glowing festoon lighting. Our models posed against our bespoke Narnia-style doors, and wistfully stared into the spellbinding magic mirror and glass ball. Moving into our tipis, the glowing warmth from our twinkling fairy lights, and flickering fire pit made for the most atmospheric and festive backdrop. Our Nordic tipis were styled as if for a wedding reception, and complete with our beautiful tables, parquet dance floor, LOVE letters (courtesy of Scene My Event), and other rustic-luxe décor. We lounged our brides over our sofas and armchairs, and created a cluster of bespoke chill-out furnishings around the obligatory Christmas tree.”
Photography- Nick Mizen Photography
“Nick brought an editorial and commercial approach to the photography. We had numerous locations around the venue, all of which were used creatively to encapsulate the narrative of the shoot. Smoke machines elevated the atmosphere, and heightened the dramatic mood – which made for some incredible shots, and will provide couples with innovative ways to add excitement to their own wedding photographs. The glass ball was used to add an element of distortion to the detailed shots of tablescapes and glassware – this again played into the whimsical and mysterious nature of the shoot. We wanted to hone-in on vibrant colours and bursts of light, as this created a stark contrast between the winter darkness. Nick was able to expertly edit, and infuse his energy into the final shots, which brought our vision to life.”
Florals- Flowers at the Dutch Barn
“Caroline has such a talent and flair for creating spectacular floral designs. Throughout all table-scapes and décor, Caroline stuck to a seasonal palette of deep crimsons, purples, oranges, greens and golds. To create interest and add rural elements, Caroline added fruits/berries, pheasant feathers, pine-cones, and lush foliage. Earthy tones were also included to complement the natural wood of our tipis and furnishings. Our brides carried impressive bouquets of wild blooms, and the Christmas wreath added festive charm to our Narnia-esque wooden doors. Our rustic round table was dressed with a candelabra arrangement, and our rustic long table portrayed fairy-tale romance through it’s enchanting rose-entwined eucalyptus garland. The lavish sweetheart table payed homage to the festive period, with a large vase bursting with vibrant seasonal florals and trailing foliage. All tables were styled with copper cutlery by Whitehouse Crockery, and adorned in rose gold tea-lights.”
Bridal- Cherish Bridal
“From the very outset Tracy knew exactly how to capture our vision, and set out to source the most exquisite bridal attire. Grace wore a stunning tulle and organza ball gown by Ronald Joyce. Embellished in beaded lace appliques and 3D flowers, the gown lent itself perfectly to the rustic woodland scenery. The lace bodysuit, paired with bejeweled crown and feathered bolero, added a seasonal touch to the overall look. Through her ensemble, Grace was able to embody everything that is an ice queen – fantastical and frosty, yet opulent and breathtaking. Nicol modeled an A-line lace gown, which offered a contrasting look to Grace’s grand attire. It remained elegant and striking, yet the low back offered a more youthful and free spirited look. We paired the gown with dainty silver jewellery, and also styled it with a tartan shawl for a more playful and cosy feel.”
Make up: Made up by Cathryn
“Cathryn brought our vision to life with her kit of high-end bridal make up. She expertly accentuated our gorgeous model’s features, whilst still letting their natural beauty shine through. Grace’s make up resembled a regal monarch, with a full-coverage matt complexion, bronzed cheeks, and structured brows. She wore smokey brown eye-shadow, and full, wispy lashes for a glamorous feel. The look focused heavily on her bold berry lip, which complemented the deep burgundy tones in her bouquet. Nicol modeled a much more youthful look, with shimmering eyes and dewy skin. We wanted to have a style of make up for those who don’t want to opt for full bridal glam. The overall look was very soft, feminine, and romantic.”
Hair- By Katie Rowland
“Katie ensured our models wore two differing hair styles in order to perfectly complimented their beautiful make up. Grace modeled a majestic up-do, complete with a dazzling silver crown, which made a statement without overwhelming the rest of her attire. Nicol’s beautiful blonde locks were styled in an romantic half-up half down, with soft curls framing her face. For added detail we chose a romantic silver hair vine, which subtly alluded to a princess tiara.”
