With rich colours and rock and roll gothic edge, this aptly named ‘Arizona Nights’ inspirational shoot is perfect for the offbeat couple who are looking for something alternative for their wedding day. Set in the beautiful Jervaulx Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales it’s full of boho details with an alternative edge. Stylist and coordinator Jen of My Pretties UK brought on board some very talented wedding suppliers which provided the most amazing black wedding dress and stunning tablescape for this boho rock inspo. It’s full of epic details that you’re going to love. We hear from the team behind this look who share planning tips too…
“I used to live in Phoenix and still follow the wedding trends over there, I wanted to showcase a bohemian/country style right here in Yorkshire to show couples they can achieve any style they want with the right inspiration. Finding the right like-minded suppliers to bring your vision to life will really help. Choose a rich colour scheme with burnt oranges, mustard and black. Try to conduct the majority of your day outdoors, try and get out for those perfect ‘golden hour’ pictures, that will give your images that destination vibe and most importantly don’t be afraid to be bold with your choices.”
“Jervaulx Abbey is a beautiful exclusive outdoor venue in North Yorkshire. It’s one of my favourite spots. A completely DIY venue that allows you to let your imaginations run wild. Its ancient ruins are the most breathtaking backdrop.”
“We created a statement table with over-head Edison bulb and pampas grass installation. On the table, we used natural linen cloths, a mix of fabric to give it texture and lots of fresh flowers and beautiful coloured taper candles.”
Hayley is so much fun to work with, she really likes a laugh and instantly puts her couples at ease. Finding a photographer whose style you love is important but, so is finding one who makes you feel comfortable. That will really come across in your final images.”
“I knew we need a real statement dress, not only one that was perfect for the theme but also for our model. Ellie loved wearing this black crepe dress with statement fringed sleeves, she said it was something she would definitely choose for her big day. This incredible design is from Shikoba”
Hair and Makeup
“I am a huge Stevie Nicks fan and she was my inspiration for Ellie’s hair and makeup. Charlotte created an impactful smokey eye that Stevie herself would have been proud of and teamed it with a neutral lip and flawless skin.”
“Flowers for me are the backbone of your wedding, they are such a huge part of the day and can make any wedding WOW, instantly. Emma created a beautiful bouquet for Ellie, tables flowers in vintage bowls and two incredible floral columns for the ceremony part of the shoot.”
“Where The Ribbon Ends always make the most amazing cakes. They incorporated the colour scheme into their design and used wafer paper to decorate and then it was finished with a mix of dried and fresh flowers”
“We didn’t include stationery in this shoot but my top tip is to use the same designer to create all your stationery from invites to on-the-day items, like menus, place names and signage. This means the theme is consistent all the way through”
