“The venue is an elegant Georgian manor house suitable for receptions, wedding parties and perfect currently for intimate micro weddings. It is directly next door to the historic and beautiful St Andrew’s COD Church. The house sleeps 12 people with room for more if required, and so is the perfect location for bridal parties – outside of current Covid19 restrictions. The large garden and outdoor space also make it popular for marquee hire and outdoor celebrations.”

Inspiration

“The inspiration behind the shoot was the idea of displaying macrame in a variety of styles to showcase its versatility. From a whimsical and enchanting alfresco wedding table to a grand, elegant wedding, macrame can have a place and create an impact.”

“Hannah, our florist used a mixture of foraged flowers from her garden and the surrounding countryside, this gave a relaxed yet colourful feel to the bouquet, a mix of hydrangea, a versatile and show-stopping flower that can be used in styling for their delicate petals and fabulous multi-tonal colours, Dahlias, have made a comeback recently and their striking and colourful flower heads add interest in their structure, Japanese anemones in soft pinks and whites offer a floaty soft finish within the bouquet. Purple asters and fresh-cut eucalyptus and ladies mantle finish the piece. There’s something quite spectacular about a wild bouquet colour scheme leaving behind uniformity and precision bringing a truly natural note to any wedding be it boho or more formal. Moon-gates and Arches are a popular theme and finding and creating something different is every brides wish, the arch was crafted from eucalyptus branches and framed the macrame with sheer elegance, combining fresh-cut stunning pampas grass and eucalyptus with hydrangea and deep ruby coloured peonies achieving an Art Deco finish resplendent in the glorious setting of the room.”

“The bouquet was made to compliment and although oversized worked In perfect harmony with the Arch decor. The dining table again using the versatile hydrangea and an abundance of greenery worked in Harmony with the Macrame in a totally different way, the Georgian dining room a Dark and Dramatic room was lifted with small touches of cream macrame and soft pink hydrangea heads, the hoop over headdresses the same and tying everything together!”

Dress and Accessories – Jan Knibbs and Gemma Sangwine

Jan Knibbs is an award-winning designer, specialising in couture embroidery. For this shoot she customised a vintage 1980’s wedding dress, re-fashioning it and adding embellishments, including a lyric from a Nirvana song, ‘love you so much makes me sick’. Jan works closely with milliner Gemma Sangwine to create unique hair accessories, combining Jan’s handmade flowers with vintage jewellery and beads. For your wedding, consider if there is a vintage dress from a family member that you could have altered to suit you. Add a personal touch with an embroidered poem or saying that has particular significance to you and your partner, this is something Jan specialises in and has done with dresses, jackets and even a handkerchief! When it comes to accessories, see if there’s a family piece you can borrow or any heirloom jewellery you can incorporate into a bespoke hair comb or tiara.

Hair and Makeup

“This look is all about enhancing the natural beauty of the bride and being easily versatile from day to evening look. Airbrush helped to apply a soft but full coverage foundation to even the skin tone, apply blusher and highlighter. Soft contouring helps to keep the look natural and good for photos. Everybody has their best colours, choosing colours within the best suitable pallet is a key to fab makeup. As I wanted the look to be soft and simple all the drama was given to lashes. I have applied 2 layers of individual lashes to give this flattering to her eyes. This look can be easily transformed for the evening part of the celebration by adding just a deep cherry lipstick and a slight touch of the same lipstick on cheeks.”

The Details

Cake

“I wanted the cake itself to be understated so that the macrame cake wrap and floral hoop would stand out and be the centre of attention. I decided to go with peach tones for the icing, as it lent a warm, yet balanced tone for the pink and beige colours of the floral hoop to stand out and not be lost against their background. It also really made the natural tone of the Macrame wrap ‘pop’. Anyone wanting to replicate this look, I would strongly recommend thinking hard about the colours you wish to use and ensuring they all compliment each other, otherwise you will run the risk of losing the details of all the beautiful elements being used.”
