Here we catch up with shoot coordinator and hair and make up artist Ieva Genovesi and the rest of the team who tell us all about this winter wedding look…

“The inspiration behind this shoot was to represent the Bride of the Earth: an independent, strong woman, surrounded by nature as she faces today’s world. Combining history and mythology, she symbolises a modern day Pocahontas residing in our beautiful Thetford forest. She cares about the earth and shares her love with her soulmates – the wolves (a symbol of friendship, faithfulness and loyalty)! She is never alone or lonely! These powerful images depict the warrior inside her, and her braveness to fight for herself, for freedom, and to be heard and noticed!”

“Hair and makeup was created to compliment the idea behind it. Not a typical bridal look, but I wanted to add some earthy colours on the eyes and lips to match the flower bouquet and stronger contouring to enhance the model’s perfect cheekbones! I have done 2 different hairstyles: 1st one to show the warrior side of her with the hair pulled off the face and braided half up half down decorated with the gorgeous feathers . Second hair style was two messy braids with the hairband on the forehead to represent the Pocahontas image.”

“I was delighted to work with such a warm, fun and talented group of ladies. The theme of this shoot is very close to my heart: Bride of the Earth. I have always had a strong affinity with North America, wolves, and the cultures and aesthetics of the indigenous first nations of North America, with Pocahontas being my ultimate hero. I deeply embrace the idea of going back to our roots and reuniting ourselves with nature and the austere nobility of the pines of Thetford Forest could not have provided a more perfect backdrop. I hope that these photos catch the hearts of their viewers so that the beautiful essence behind Ieva’s concept can be felt and understood by many others.”

“It’s Winter at its best! The time when forest and it’s residents and plants are resting and it’s the time to discover it’s simple but perfectly luxurious and divine beauty. This bouquet represents how we can rediscover plants and flowers. And we used them in a different way by highlighting different textures, colours and played with different arrangements, when whole nature is composed to restore itself through the frosty deep Winter sleep…”

This project was an opportunity for me to show that vision, strong image created by Ieva combined with the certain background and light as well as complimented with the amazing wolves. “Designing for this shoot I wanted to show off the best examples of bridal hoods within the theme of a woodland wedding. The pure white faux fur gives a very regal look to my hood design and with the accompaniment of the lace fabric create an extra dimension to a simple but elegant bridal look.”
