Charlotte and Cameron’s intimate wedding day across the pond includes beautiful scenery, personalised details and vintage touches to finish it off to perfection. We catch up with the couple who tell us how their love of travel made them the perfect match, the proposal and planning of their big day at the romantic and picturesque Treehouse Point.
How Did You Meet?
“Cameron came along, after we met online, and finding out very quickly that we both shared a love of travel. We found ourselves spending a lot more time with each other very quickly. Cameron was also working for an international firm in east London, but since Cameron was originally from the United States, we we spent a lot more time across the pond, spending time with friends and family. Our relationship went from strength to strength and after some time Cameron decided to pop the question whilst visiting Portland In November 2017.”
The Proposal
“Cameron had organised a trip to Portland in the state of Oregon to visit his Father and Step Mother for thanksgiving in November 2017. Cameron had decided to pop the question in Cathedral Park, a park well known with locals for its beautiful scenery and architecture that surrounds the park. Cameron also had a classical string quartet play, Underneath the gothic arches which support the bridge across the park for the perfect proposal.”
Planning the Wedding
“We had always specified from the outset that they wanted a small ceremony and for it to be as intimate as possible. We agreed that we wanted a outdoor wedding, especially with Cameron’s love of the outdoors. With this is in mind put our preferences to planning a wedding, with the idea it would be a summer wedding, to be probably set in the United States, due to better weather conditions for a outside wedding. The colour scheme of the wedding was going to be based natural outdoor colours and pastel colours. We wanted to have an air of simplicity to the day and just some unique details to show our personalities. An outdoor whimsical intimate woodland wedding to be precise.”
The Location
“The location was TreeHouse Point in Seattle, Washington state. The venue was selected by Cameron, which fitted well with his love of nature. As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect! We had both fallen in love with a venue, which clearly presented exactly what we wanted. When you arrive at the location, you are quickly whisked away to world of peace and tranquillity which is so inviting, no wonder why people fall in love with this place so quickly! The four-acre site was originally bought a buy a local couple named Pete and Judy Nelson, due to also their love of the outdoors and treehouse making. Pete Nelson is now a world-renowned treehouse maker and more famously known being the author and host of the Animal Planet TV show Treehouse Masters.”
The Dress
“The dress had many intricate details, designed by Pronovias a well-known family business originating from Barcelona, which are mainly known for specialising in lace, embroidery and high-quality silk fabrics, which all of these techniques can be seen to be used in the making of the dress, it was clearly evident it was always going to be a show stopper!”
The Suit
“Cameron’s wedding suit was custom made for him when he was visiting his friend in Amsterdam, who only takes private clientele.”
The Details
“For the cake we opted for a less traditional wedding cake. We requested a local cake maker Scarlett Nantes of Atelier de Cuisine, and made decorative glazed donuts of differing style and colours. The rest of the catering was done in house courtesy of Tree House point. Alcohol was bought in for the occasion. We located wine in the local winery which bared both our married surnames on. The floral arrangement’s we opted for where to be of more natural and pastel colours, not to detract too much attention away from the natural surroundings of the venue. The florists selected for our big day were Seattle based florists grace and blooms. From an ethical point of view we decided to use no plastic for our wedding day.”
The Best Part Of The Day
“Other than dancing the night away, the best part for us, as well the guests had to be the ceremony. The intimate woodland wedding setting was perfection. The ceremony was conducted on the green lawns of the property, with likes of Puccini, Dvorak and Strauss played by classical instruments throughout the whole ceremony in the background. The intimate wedding party sitting forward looking at the handcrafted alter, listening to the beautiful words said by Cameron’s good friend Chris. It just felt so special for us.”
Words of Wisdom
“Don’t be afraid to have the wedding you exactly want, we went for a more intimate woodland wedding affair and we do not regret it one little bit! It was so important to us that only the nearest and dearest were present. We never buckled to pressure of inviting the “mothers distant second removed cousin”!”
