Today we catch up with Hayley from Glory Days Vintage who we met recently while at the Festival of Vintage at York Racecourse. She along with the photographer Ryan Learoyd, they took an amazing photo shoot showcasing some stunning vintage wedding dresses.
Following an epiphany which struck whilst shopping for wedding dresses with her sister, Hayley made her dreams a reality and opened her shop in March 2012. Glory Days is named after the Pulp song which she walked down the aisle to at her own wedding, and is therefore the official anthem! Combining a love of true original vintage pieces and exact period replicas along with a taste for the unusual and alternative, the aim of Glory Days is to provide wedding dresses for women who are looking for something different to the high street. From edgy rock and roll chic to classic Hollywood glamour they have it all! Glory Days set out to be the antidote to all those boring bridal shops full of strapless bustiers
and bling. They want their brides to walk down the aisle showing their true personalities, loving their dress as much as their man and looking sexy and cool as hell.
Having developed a passion for fashion history and design at an early age (photographic evidence of bizarre outfits abound!), Hayley studied costume design at degree level and went on to work as a freelance costume designer, maker, and assistant in the enchanting realms of theatre and film.Gaining experience with respected companies such as the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Trafalgar Studios, Warp Films, Channel 4 and the BBC, Hayley has been lucky enough to work on productions such as Othello (starring Lenny Henry), the 2009 Pussycat Dolls tour, This Is England ’86, and Bifa, Bafta and Oscar winning films Kill List, Tyrannosaur and The King’s Speech. Most recently Hayley supervised the costumes for a Jake Bugg music video directed by Shane Meadows.
So now for the shoot…..these dresses are beautiful I’m sure you will agree.
It was such a great day at the Festival and these beautiful dresses made it all the brighter. Have a look at a video Hayley had produced by Special Days Films to show you more!
