“It all started with Sarah of Brehant Creations Events vision and a gorgeous, black wedding gown. We wanted to showcase a different take on a black wedding dress other than the typical “spooky” vibe, and instead go for something a little bit edgy, glam, and industrial. You can wear a black dress without having a “Halloween” wedding! This styled wedding inspiration shoot features unique florals and urban art, a distillery and brewery, and LOTS of detail.”

“We were inspired by deep wine and burgundy shades against black lace, the cocktails crafted by the distillery (our cocktail hour location), and the ‘industrial meets lush florals’ concept for our reception layout at the brewery.”

“Our shoot took place in Hartford, Connecticut. We set up the cocktail hour at Hartford Flavor Company, a unique artisan liqueur distillery with a tasting bar called “Diana’s Lair.” Our couples portraits were shot outside of their building against a backdrop of vibrant street art and exposed brick. Then we headed down the road to Hog River Brewery, where the ceremony and reception were set up.”

Styling: Brehant Creations Events

“Sarah mixed industrial, modern, and lush florals to create a unique look that we hoped would inspire non-traditional brides. Our table decor is visually striking, mixing hand painted plates with beautiful crystal candle holders, black gunmetal flatware, and other decor from Enchanting Moments. A wrought-iron arch, a hand-painted vegan leather jacket, and hand-lettered place cards with white script on matte black paper all tie in seamlessly. We loved showing that you can combine different styles into one cohesive look. The key is to follow a strict colour scheme: we used burgundy, black, white, and gold.

“Sarah chose Allie to perfectly execute this edgy and bold shoot because her colourful photography would be unexpected in this dark and moody setting. Allie loved capturing all of the unique details in this shoot – from the invitation suite, to the tiny honeybee pin on the groom’s jacket, to the stunning bouquet, juxtaposing pops of vibrant colour against darker tones was so much fun.”

Bridal: Julie Allen Bridals

“Our bridal model Nicole wears a strikingly elegant black lace Maggie Sottero gown from The low back shows off her “sine metu” tattoo, meaning “without fear” in Latin. Her regal crown, also an accessory from Julie Allen Bridals, compliments her rose gold tresses perfectly. Liam, her bearded + bespectacled groom, is wearing a custom tailored burgundy wool suit with an antique honeybee pin detail.”

Florist- The Gardenist

Natalie, used locally grown florals such as hanging amaranthus to add dimension and texture to the arrangements. The grand bouquet features black knight scabiose, ranunculus, plum pudding heuchera, and a showstopping protea. (The flower names may be foreign to most, but the arrangements are truly inspiring and eye-catching!)

Cake: Celebrated

“This jaw dropping, six tiered, black wedding cake is the creation of , a local vegan bakery. Yes, in addition to being gorgeous, the entire cake is vegan! Decorated with more fresh florals and perched atop a square gold stand, this edgy confection is #cakegoals for sure.

Hair and Makeup: Simply Gorgeous by Erin

“Simply Gorgeous by Erin, a Connecticut local wedding hair and beauty expert, took cake of both hair and makeup for this shoot. Glowy contour, a modern smoky eye, and artfully arched brows give our bride a regal, striking look and make her stunning green eyes pop. Her rose gold hair is styled in slightly tousled waves, with the coolest bridal crown perched on top. Video: Xluzive created a teaser video that captures the essence of this shoot perfectly.”
